Feature Friday - August 26: High-resolution images for emails

Today we’re thrilled to announce a big improvement to the resolution of images embedded in our notification emails.

When sending out product change announcements, it's a good practice to include images, like screenshots or animated GIFs to help explain what has changed and to reinforce the benefit of the feature release or upgrade.

With LaunchNotes announcements, product change communications can be delivered through the app, our embedded widget, through LaunchNotes Announce, which is our Slack app for announcements, and through email. Until now, embedded images in emails were being rendered at their pixel dimensions, which had the effect of the images appearing fuzzy on Retina and hi-res displays. This image quality issue was painful for us because we know it was painful for some of our customers.

We’re happy to say we were able to address this and get the image quality rendering at full resolution for the most widely used email services, including Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail.

To demonstrate the image quality improvement, check out this screenshot grabbed from the LaunchNotes homepage. The graphics and font are rendered in beautiful, clear, and crisp detail.

We hope you enjoy this update as much as we do. Along with that update, we also had a chance to fix a couple of bugs this week.

Bugs: fixes & improvements

  • Announcement editor: hyperlink window in announcement editor deleting URL on enter/return

  • Magic link: magic link emails were not displaying the correct content based on a project’s configuration

As always, we’d love to hear your feedback!

Let us know what you think! Leave feedback to let us know how we can further improve your LaunchNotes experience.

As always, we hope you have a restful, relaxing, and recharging weekend!
