Feature Friday - May 26: Enhanced magic links for improved experience and security

We’ve released an update to the feedback submission process on LaunchNotes pages where feedback collection is enabled. These enhancements have been applied across the feedback forms for the general feedback billboard, on announcements, and across roadmap items. This improvement enhances security and improves the overall customer experience when submitting feedback.

Previously, anyone could submit feedback without proving their identity. Non-subscribers were prompted to enter their email address in a form without a verification process to ensure the submitter was the same individual as the provided email address. Furthermore, only the feedback form for ideas required subscribers to authenticate via a Magic Link.

      What we've improved

To align the feedback process across all forms, we've implemented the following changes:

      1. Subscription requirement: visitors must now subscribe to the page before leaving feedback. This step ensures that we can maintain a trusted community of contributors.

      2. Email verification: visitors attempting to leave feedback will be prompted to enter their email address. They will then receive a Magic Link to authenticate their identity. This additional layer of verification helps us maintain a secure feedback environment.

      3. Streamlined experience for subscribers: subscribers who have already been authenticated and wish to leave feedback will have the same seamless experience as before. Since their email address is already known and verified, they will not be prompted to enter it again.

Note: These improvements only apply to public LaunchNotes pages. Any private LaunchNotes page will be unaffected.

      We’d love your feedback

We built these updates to enhance the integrity and quality of the feedback received via LaunchNotes pages. That said, we value your input and look forward to hearing any thoughts or feedback you have. If you have something to share, please drop it in the upper left-hand corner of this announcement. Notably, if you're leaving feedback and are not subscribed to our page, let us know how the new Magic Link experience works for you!

      Have a terrific long weekend!
